Experience
Adjunct professor of philosophy, with teaching experience at Loyola Marymount University; Concordia University (Mequon, WI); St. John's Seminary College (Camarillo, CA); Oxnard College; Moorpark College. Currently on faculty at Moorpark College. One of the most rewarding experiences in the education profession is the opportunity to work with individual students. The challenge, and fulfillment, is achieved as students develop and progress in an area of study that was perhaps intimidating to them at first. Highly motivated students, seeking additional insight into college philosophy courses, also provide a welcome opportunity for teachers. It would be difficult to provide a list of relevant classes I've taken in philosophy, given the demanding curriculum at Marquette University. The Philosophy Department has core requirements that include courses in Plato, Aristotle, Aquinas, and Kant. Additionally, courses in ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary philosophers are required. In order to complete the Doctoral degree, a demanding three day comprehensive examination is required. This includes both a two day written examination, and a one day oral exam. Finally, a dissertation is submitted to a committee of five faculty members. After submission, a public oral defense of the dissertation is held. My dissertation was unanimously approved by all five faculty members, which is not a common outcome. Impressive or not, I've published a book entitled, Out of a Kantian Chrysalis? It was peer reviewed before publication, and later positively reviewed in several professional journals.
